    Governor Farbus of Arkansas brings in National Guard to prevent black students from going into a white school. Nine black teenagers were removed for their own safety after a mob formed, they were later allowed to attend school but the following august Farbus shut down all local high schools to prevent segregation, it took a year for them to be opened again.
