    Scientific Revolution
    The Scientific Revolution was a period of great learning where Europeans looked for how the universe worked. Three people that contributed to this were Galaleo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and Baron De Montesquien.
  • Founding of Jamestown

    Founding of Jamestown
    The settlers who first settled Jamestown faced the problems of disease and rough climate. The colonists had a good relationship with the Powhatan Confeederacy. John Rolfe introduced a form of sweet tobacco which was grown in Jamestown and he had indentured servants work the land as a way to pay off their live in the new colonies.

    Founding of Plymouth
    Plymouth was founded as a colony for Seperatists (puritants who cut their ties with the Church of England) to escape religious persecution. These pilgrims faced a harsh climate and new diseases. Plymouth settlers had a good relationship with the American Indians and were taught by Squanto to grow corn and how to fertilize their crops with fish remains.

    William Penn founded Pennsylvanie as a safe haven for Quakers. Quakers were very religious people that believed all people had an "inner light" that allowed them to experience God.

    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. the land was changed by giving the French lands east of the Mississippi except of the city of New Orleans.

    To end the conflicts with the colonist and the American Indians, The Proclamation of 1763 banned the colonist to settle west of the Apps.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act set duties, or taxes on molasses and sugar imported by colonist. It was padded to pay for the French and Indian War. Because the weren't being represented in palarement the started to Boycott.
  • The Stamp Act

    It taxed all paper goods, this included newspaper, pamhplets, and even playing cards
  • The Townshend Acts

    It taxed imported oods such as glass, tea, lead paint, and paper. WRits of Assistance were granted as search warrants so the law could be enforced. The colonists felt this violated their right due to the fact that "taxation without representation" ocurred. In order to protest, they would boycott British goods.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was when British Soldiers fired into a crowd and killed five people. John Adams and Josiah Quincy were their lawyers in the situation and the soldiers were proven "not guilty" because it was self defense on their part.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act put a tax on all tea imported from the British East Indea tea company.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The dumping of more than 342 barrels of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts caused:
    1. the Boston Harbor to be closed until all the dumped tea was paid for.
    2. the Massachusetts Charter to be cancelled.
    3. People were sent to Britain for the trial.
    4. Quarter act was passed.
    5. General Thomas Cage became the new governor of Massachusetts.
