    James Watt was the person who invented the first useful steam engine. The steam engine is very important for the world today because it was used to build trains and boats, which are very important transportation tools for trade today.
  • French Revolution

    French Revolution
    The French Revolution was when the common people revolted against the king because the monarchs have been getting more power. The king and queen gave up their power. The king and queen were executed (by being beheaded). The Reign of Terror occurred. Napoleon came into power and ended the war and monarchy. This is important today, because France is not a monarchy because of Napoleon.
  • Haitian Revolution

    Haitian Revolution
    The Haitian Revolution was caused by a group of slave, ordered by Toussaint L’Ouverture, overthrew French out of the country. The French returned but couldn't get Haiti back. This is important because it was the first country in Latin America to revolt against the Europeons, which caused other countries to revolt too.This is also one of the first major slave revolts, which was later adapted in other countries like the Zulus revolted in South Africa.
  • Congress of Vienna

    Congress of Vienna
    The Congress of Vienna restores Monarchy in France, Spain, Portugal, and the Italian states. after Napoleon left France. This is important for Europe today because it restored the nations as they were before the French Revolution. Those nations remained weak which lead to the sucesses of Britain, who never gave up Monarchy the first place.
  • Indepedence of Mexico

    Indepedence of Mexico
    The Mexican Revolution was caused because the creoles wanted full power of their country instead of the peninsulares. So, a creole named Augustin de Iturbide fought the peninsulares and won which united Mexico. This is important

    because the independence of Mexico caused other Europeon ruled colonies to become independent.
  • Opium War

    The Opium War was a war of China revolting against Britain because Britain was trading opium to China, which the opium poisoned the Chinese. The results of the war was Britain winning. This is important today because the opium and wars finally let China to collaspe and eventually lead China to become Communist as it is today.
  • Communist Manifesto

    Communist Manifesto
    The Communist Manifesto was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The book stated that capitolism wasn't good and created a huge gap between the rich and poor. The book also stated that socialism is the way to be with everybody being the same. This is important because many countries adapted this idea when they were going through economic trouble and this lead to the spread of communism during the first half of the 20th century.

    Matt Perry goes to Japan
    An American fleet, commanded by Matthew Perry, enters Tokyo and spreads Western ideas and technology through Japan. Matthew Perry is important for the world today because he helped Japan to improve its technology immediately and make it a powerful country, which lead to nasty wars in the 20th century.

    Sepoy Mutiny
    The Sepoy Mutiny occured because the British were using cow and pig fat on the cartridges which offended the Hindus and Muslims. The offended people revolted against Britain and eventually Britain left India. The Sepoy Mutiny is important because this caused Britain to weaken and not to be the world's most powerful country due to a significant loss of trade.
  • Unification of Germany

    Unification of Germany
    A strong empire, named Prussia, began to invade Europeon countries next to it. Prussia then invades France and deeply beat them. After the Franco-Prussian War, Prussia is unified into Germany. This is important because Germany becoming a strong empire and invading other countries will foreshadow into the big wars Germany will cause with its powerful military and government duing the 20th century.
  • Berlin Conference

    The Berlin Conference was called by King Leopald II for the countries in Europe to decide what parts of Africa they want. This is very well-known today because the Berlin Conference caused havoc in Africa like cultural destruction, which lead to wars, poor government, and a bad economy.
  • Russo- Japanese War

    The Russo- Japanese War was caused by Russia wanting to get more territory by invading Japan first. The results of the war was Japan winning. This war is important because this lead Russia into a crippled country and lead to the creation of a new government. In Japan, the military and economy deeply strengthened after the war which leads to chaos around the world.

    When the British were colonizing southern Africa, the natives of the area, the zulu, revolted against Britain because of strict rule and high taxes. The British ended up winning the war. This is important because the British caused southern Africa to continue southern Africa to be British up to this date.
  • Dr. Sun Yat-sen Takes Over China

    Dr. Sun Yat-sen Takes Over China
    Dr. Sun Yat- sen takes over China which leads to the collaspe of the Qing dynasty and founded the Nationalist Party. He is important today because the finding of the Nationalist Party lead to other government parties to be found. One of the government parties, the Communists, finally took over China.
