James Naismith developed the rules for basketball. Over time these rules have changed
1.) The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.2.) The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands.3.) A player can't run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man running at good speed.4.) The ball must be held in or between the hands; the arms or body must not be used for holding it.5.) No shouldering, h -

This game took place at Hamlin University. The teams participating in this game were Hamlin and the School of Agriculture. The School of Agriculture, who won the game 9-3, was affiliated with the University of Minnesota.

Five players became the standrd and once they were substituted they were not allowed to re-enter the game

Dribbling was not originally part of the game but in 1901 it was introduced. the player could bounce the ball once but could not shoot after dribbling.

The shot clock was first put in place in the NBA to increase the speed of play. It was a 24 second shot clock. It would reset if it hit the rim or backboard or if the other team gained posesion.
