    The three fiths comprimise was when the southern states wanted slaves to be counted as population so that the south would have more votes in the house. The north would never allow it unless the south agrees to pay taxes on the slaves. This way the north is getting more money.

    Eli Whitney & the Cotton Gin
    A cotton gin is a machine that quickly and easily separates the cotton fibers from the seeds, a job previously done by hand. These seeds are then used to grow more cotton, or to produce cottonseed oil, or, if they are badly damaged, they are disposed of. It uses a combination of a wire screen and small wire hooks to pull the cotton through the screen, while brushes continuously remove the loose cotton lint to prevent jams. This mad the need for slaves to be greater then ever.

    The Missouri Compromise was an agreement passed in 1820 between the slave and free states in the United States Congress, involving the regulation of slavery in the western territories. It prohibited slavery in the former Louisiana Territory north of the parallel 36°30' north except within the boundaries of the proposed state of Missouri. In excangeg maine was accepted as a seperate state.

    The compromise Tarriff was proposed by Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun as a resolution to the Nullification Crisis. South Carolina kept declairing nullification to the taxes put on cotton and tobacco. The Compromise terrife made it ileagle for a state to declair nullification..

    The Annexation of Texas contributed to the cause of the Civil war because when the south wanted to add this territory it wanted it to be around 13 different states. The north kept rejecting this and caused it to be made into one state, now known as texas. For a short amount of time the north would be outnumbered by the south.

    The fugitive Slave act was made so that any slave who had escaped from a slave owner into a free state must be returned to that owner.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    the Missouri Compromise of 1820, and allowed settlers in those territories to determine if they would allow slavery within their boundaries. The initial purpose of the Kansas–Nebraska Act was to create opportunities for a Mideastern Transcontinental Railroad.
