    At 4:30 in am Pierre Beauregard and confederates open fire. They used 50 cannons in the Fort. This happened in Charleston, South Carolina, The civil war starts.
  • Abraham Lincoln's son

    Abraham Lincoln's son
    Lincoln's 11 year old son named Willie dies from a fevor. People say that it was caused by polluted water in the white house.
  • General Jospeh e Johnston

    General Jospeh e Johnston
    Battle of 7 pines. General Joseph E. Johnston had his army attack mcClellan's troops in Richmond. Johnston is wounded badly.
  • 7 day battle

    7 day battle. Lee attacks McCellan by Richmond. Lost a lot of people in both armies. McCellan goes back to Washington. Ended July 1,1862

    President Lincoln hands the task general in chief over to Henry w. Halleck.

    Lincoln issued the last emancipation proclamation. This frees all slaves in the territories. The war becomes a revolutionary struggle.

    General Grant took command of the army in the West. order say to capture Vicksburg.

    Stonewell Jackson died from his wounds, the South suffers. Jackson's last words were "Let us cross over the river and rest under the shade of the trees."
  • Tide of War

    There was a drastic change in the war, also known as "The tide of war" This was between the South and the confederates defeated at the Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania.
  • President Lincoln

    President Lincoln commands all operations in the Western theater.
  • Gettysburg

    Lincoln delivered a two minute Gettysburg address at a ceremony. Dedicated the Battlefield as a National Cemetery.
  • John B, Hood

    John B. Hood is now the commander, he replaced Johnston. In Atlanta Sherman's forces fight the Rebels.
  • Democrats vote

    Democrats vote for Geroge B. McClellan for president to run up against the republicans and Abramham Lincoln.

    United States congress approved the 13th amendment. They did this to get rid of slavery. The amendment is then submitted to the states.

    Lee's army of Northern Virginia began an attack on Grant's forces in Petersburg. The attack stopped four hours later.
