    Month 1
    SIZE: At two weeks, the size of a pin head.
    Egg attaches to the uterus.
    Internal organs and circulatory system begin to form
  • Month 2

    Month 2
    SIZE: 1/4 inch. Face, eyes, ears, and limbs take shape. Bones begin to form.
  • Month 3

    Month 3
    SIZE: 1 inch. Nostrils, mouth, lips, and eyelids form. All 20 baby teeth buds appear. All organs present but immature.
  • Month 4

    Month 4
    SIZE: 3 inches, weighs 1 ounce. Facial features become more clear. Can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around.
  • Month 5

    Month 5
    SIZE: 6 1/2- 7 inches long, weighs 4- 5 ounces. Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear. Becomes more active.
  • Month 6

    Month 6
    SIZE: 8- 10 inches, 8- 12 ounces. Fat deposits under skin, but still appears wrinkled. Breathing movements begin.
  • Month 7

    Month 7
    SIZE: 10- 12 inches, 1 1/2- 2 pounds. Periods of active followed by periods of rest and quiet.
  • Month 8

    SIZE: 14-16 inches, weighs 2 1/2- 3 pounds. Rapidly gaining weight. May react to loud noises. Moves into head down position.
  • Month 9

    SIZE: 17- 18 inches, weighs 5- 6 pounds. Skin becomes smooth. Continues to gain weight. Less movement as it has less room to move around. Receives disease- fighting antibodies from mothers blood.
