    Kingdom of the Netherlands
    The country becomes the kingdom of the Netherlands, a constitutional monarchy headed by Willem I of the House of Oranje-Nassau, and incorporating Belgium. Belgium later seceded in 1830, but it isn't recognized by the Netherlands until 1839.

    Blegium secedes from the Netherlands to form their own sovereign nation. But the Netherland's will not recognize them as a nation until 1839/

  • Vincent van Gogh Suicide

    Vincent van Gogh Suicide
    One of the Netherland's most famous artists, Vincent van Gogh shot himself on July 27, 1890, but the impast wasn't fatal. it wasn't until tow days later that he died in a hosptial. His last words were reported to be: "La tristesse durera toujours."

  • Amsterdam Olympics

    Amsterdam Olympics
    Amsterdam was host of the 1928 Summer Olympics after beating out Los Amgelos for the honor. This Olympics was the start of the torch lighting and the parade of countries traditions. Since this was prior to World War II some of the Dutch Olympians were later killed in the Holocaust.
