John Brown was going to try free slaves by force. He had finical support from abolitionists John Brown got his sons and his loyal supporters. He launched an attack on Harper's Ferry, Virginia they easily took down the town and the arsenal, but was forced back by the local militia. Two of his sons died he was also hanged on December 2, 1859
