  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    After the British taxed the Americans, there was a disagreement at a Barbor shop stating that the British soldier didn't pay the correct amount of taxes to the American Barbor. This resulted in a huge riot. Under the stress that the crowd was throwing things at the soldiers, one shot was fired. Four other British soldiers joined in and this killed five British colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The British taxed the colonists for their tea. And back then, tea was like air to them. This upset many people. In a result, colonists dressed as Native Americans, snuck on the ships that were importing the tea, and dumped tons and tons of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The British had heard of the American's weapons and were searching for the weapons to confiscate them. The Americans heard of the Britishs' plan and hid the weapons. The Americans were outnumbered and lost in the Lexington battle and the British proceeded with their search in Concord. There is were the Americans attacked and succeeded.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was the first actual battle of the Revolution. It took place on and around Breeds Hill. After two assualts, the British finally took over and conquered Bunker Hill. The British techniquelly won because they acheived their goal, but the Americans wiped out more than half of the Britishs' men.
  • Declaration of Independence Signing

    Declaration of Independence Signing
    A year after the Revolutionary War originally started, the Continental Congress got together and decided to write a Declaration for the Independence of the colonists. It was signed by 56 men included the famous signature of John Hancock.
  • Battle of New York

    Battle of New York
    This battle was the first battle fought after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. George Washington directed his troops to Manhattan, thinking that would be the British's first attacks, but instead of them coming through Manhattan, Howe lead his troops to ambush the colonists from behind. It was a great victory for the British!
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    George Washington took the initiative to cross the Delaware River to take over about 900 Hessian prisoners, This lifts the Continental Army's flagging moral. This was a much needed victory for the Americans!
  • Battle of Princeton

    Battle of Princeton
    This battle was fought just a week after the Battle of Trenton. The Americans won this battle, which made it two battles in a war. This gave the Americans hope that they could actually win this war.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    William Howe came up with a plan to split the European colonies into two. His plan was well thought out and probably would've worked if the British would have spent more time explaining the plan. Soon after the British's loss, the French decided to support the American colonists. Without the French's assistance, we probably would have lost this war.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    This was the toughest time period for the American colonists because of the harsh weathers. Deseases spread across them so violently. Over 2,000 Americans died of desease.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Washington sent two groups of soldiers to attack the British's outer defenses. At the same time, the American's allies, The French, attacked some defenses which stopped Cornwallis's plans to escape by sea. This resulted in Cornwallis's surrender which is the end of the Revolutionary Wars.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This treaty formally ended the Revolutionary War after Cornwallis surrendered in Yorktown.
