  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A group of Boston 'rebals' gathered at a local house to talk about the certian taxes that were making them angry. One man made a comment to one of the guards on duty, and the guard smashed the 'rebal's head. The 'rebal' came back with a group of people to taunt the gaurds. Church bells rang and a crowd of 400 people came daring the guards to fire their guns. One guards fired his then the rest of the men shot too. 3 people were killed 2 mortally wounded.
  • Boston Tea Party

    After the French and Indian war the colonies became independent from their mother country. This happened because the crown was distracted by the loss of money and was trying to recover from the war. So in May,1773 parliament passed many taxes such as:
    -Stamp Act(1765)
    -Townshend Act(1767)
    made the colonies angry, the Boston Massacre wasn't helping either, Then the crown decided to add a tea tax, so the colonists dressed up like Indians and dumped 342 crates of tea into tehe harbor.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Took place in Boston, Massacsetts.
    Combatants: British troops and Milita of Massacsetts.
    1800 British men; American numbers not known.
    The first shots were fired at Lexington on April 19th , 1775.
    The Americans considered them selfs "winners" of the war.

    Declaration of Independance Signing
    The drafting of the declaration was John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. The document was accepted without any change to its form, and a formal signing by 56 members of Congress began on Aug. 2, 1776.
  • Battle of New York

    George Washington tried to protect Manhattan and Long Island at the same time, but he spead his men out to thin and couldnt over come the British. George Washington surrendered after a brave battle.

  • Battle of Princeton

    Located in present day New Jersey, USA. Americans against British.

    -Americans 7,000 General George Washington
    -British 8,000 General Lord Charles Cornwallis
    Casualties
    -British had 40 killed, 58 wounded, and 187 missing.
    -Americans had only 40 killed and wounded, but they lost some able officers; such as General Mercer and Colonal Haslet along with several others.
  • Valley Forge 1777-1778

    Valley Forge 1777-1778
    Washington had his army settle in Philadaphia for the winter, the winter was a brutal one. His army of 12,000 men were forced to sleep in crowded damp quarters, dieseases such as:
    -typhoid -dysentery -typhus -pneumonia spread like wild fire through the camp. An estimated 2,000 men died from diesease. On June 19, 1778 George marched his army back to New York, the army had changed since that winter. They became much stonger.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    In the picture, General Burgoyne surrenders to General Gates.
    The battle was at Saratoga on the Hudson River,in New York.
    The British and the Germans were fighting against the Americans. The British has about 5000 troops; we Americans had ,by the time of the surrender, about 12000-14000 troops/milita.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    28th of September til the 19th of October.
    This battle was held in Yorktown, Virginia during the American Revolutionary War. The Americans and French fight against the British, the numbers of the troops are as followed:
    -Americans 8,800 troops
    -French 7,800 troops
    -British 6,000 troops.
    Clearly the British bit off more than they could chew.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Cornwallis' troops got attacked by the Americans on October 14. They attacked for five days. Which left the British commander no choice but to surrender, which he did on October 19. News of the surrender reached England on November 25, even though the king wanted to continue with the war, the prime minister resigned in 1782 his replacement began the peace process that got the signing of the Treaty of Paris in September 1783 granting independence to the American colonies.
