  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This happened after the French and Indian war. British forces decided to take more control over the colonists. They pushed native Americans away from the colonists.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Britain was in debt from the 7 years war so they decided to tax the american colonists. They taxed them for all paper documents, such as stamps. the colonists believed this was unconstitutional. They decided to use violence to get stamp collectors to quit. This act was repealed in 1766.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This act was passed to tax the colonists on goods imported from Britain. This cause the colonists to boycott British goods. Britain sent troops over to help enforce the new act. However this caused more tension between the two.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A disagreement between two people led to a group of over 200 people fighting. The colonists were trowing stuff at the soldiers and then the soldiers started firing into the crowd. The fight led to three dead and two injured horribly.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    After the British repealed their Townshend act they kept in place tax on tea. The colonists wanted to buy their goods from where they wanted not where the British wanted them too. A radical group called The Sons of Liberty decided to take action. They dressed up as Mohawks and got onto the British ships with the tea and dumped about 92,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. They didn't cause any damage cause they were radicals not vandals.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    In response to the Boston tea party the Coercive acts were set in place. They closed the Boston harbor until all the damage to the tea was paid back. They also got rid of the colonists council and replaced it with someone the British chose. Along with that they also forbid town meetings without approval.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The British soldiers went from Boston to Lexington to capture generals from the colonists. However it didn't work out cause American spies had found out and spread the word. once they met up they started shooting each other. The British lost soldiers and had to return to Boston.
