    On October 12th, Columbus landed at San Salvador in the Caribbean. His discovery lead the Europeans to calinize the land that Clumbus discovered. The song says "1492 Columbus saild the ocean blue."

    Jamestown, Virginia: Founded in 1607, was the first permanent English colony established in America. It experienced starvation, rebellion, and Indian attacks. It was located on a peninsula of the James River in the present-day state of Virginia. It was named for King James I of England.
  • Plymouth Colony created

    Colony founded by the Pilgrims at Plymouth, Massachusetts, in December, 1620. Meany of the 102 pasengers that saild, died before they reached land.They faced great hardship but made friends with their new neighbors the Native Americans. Among the leaders of the Plymouth Colony were William Bradford, John Carver, William Brewster, and Miles Standish.

    On June 12, 1630, the flagship of the Massachusetts Bay Company arrived in Salem to officially found the new colony. The company was founded by English Puritans, most of whom were educated and wealthy. John Winthrop became the first governor of the colony.
