    In 1990, the first web browser was invented by a computer scientist by the name of Tim Berners-Lee while he worked for CERN, a European nuclear research agency. This is not to be confused with www(World Wide Web) which was invented by the same man a year prior.
  • Linux

    Linux
    Linux was created and released by Linus Torvalds in 1991. He was frustrated by the licensing terms of the MINIX operating system so he developed the Linux kernel. Various forms of the Linux operating systems now exist and many of the pieces of technology we use on a daily basis are run on Linux.

    IBM Simon was the first PDA devices that was also able to make phone calls. It was created by IBM in 1994 and is considered to be the first smartphone. Although our smartphones are far more advanced you can certainly seem the similarities between Simon and our current phones.

    DVD or Digital Video Disc was invented in 1995 and released in 1996. Although there is no single inventor of the DVD it was pushed in part due to IBM, Apple, Compaq, HP and Microsoft wanting a standardized format.

    In 1997 the first MP3 player by the name of MPMan was introduced by Saehan Information Systems. It was first sold in South Korea starting in 1998 and making its way to the United States in mid-1998. In the following years we would begin to see an explosion in amount of mp3 devices on the market.

    Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Page and Brin began their development along side a third programmer by the name of Scott Hassan out of fellow students garage. Google is now the most popular search engine and also sports one of the most popular web browsers, Chrome.
