Aged 2 1/2 I attended Whitecrest Primary School Great Barr
-
1 form entry. Open plan style classrooms. Topic work often used as a vehicle for teaching key skills. Captain of the football team but last one to learn how to swim.
-
No football or girls on the curriculum so I was not particularly upset to miss out on attending grammar school.
-
The local comprehensive with an 8 form intake. French compulsory to GCSE for all. Half the school aslo did German, the other half Spanish. House system for games/competitions and pastoral role through H.O.Y.
-
Achieve level 6-7 in Englsih/Maths/Science which meant nothing then and only start to understand 13 years later!
-
Study 3 Economics, Business Studies and History
-
The culmination of 3 very challenging but rewarding years.
-
Decide that a life in teaching would be a better one
-
Realise that had I scraped through the 11+ I probably would have been prevented from doing Economics at 'A' level because of setting and excess demand.
