    Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr both ran for president. After the people voted there was a dead tie between the two electors. Alex Hamilton voted for Thomas Jefferson for political reasons, even though he did not like him and they had their differences.

    The laws underneath the Alien and Sedation Act expired in 18082. These laws were designed to weaken the Democratic-Republic party. Congress repealed the Naturalization Act in 1802, however the other acts were allowed to expire.

    Battle of Fort Mchenry Cochrane decided to descend on Baltimore, Maryland. Major General Samual Smith of Maryland took control. The battle started around 8 am. Between 1500 and 1800 mortar shots were fired. After this battle Francis Scott-Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner. The British marched back to the North point. The army troops went to Burmuda to prepare for the next war.

    Denamark Vesey, a free slave, was mad that he could not afford to free his family too. Because of that he began to plan a rebellion that could free the slaves of Charleston, South Carolina. He told his companions about his plans and they joined him. However a few of his companions told their master which caused the downfall of the revolt. Because of the slaves that told their masters, Vesey was caught along with his other comanions and hung for their rebellious thoughts and actions.

This caused the U.S. northern market to fall abd many businesses closed because people were only buying the cheap British goods. The governemnt then instituted a tax or tariff that made the good more expensive. This caused the South to struggle because they could not afford the higher priced goods.

    Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote the book, Uncle Tom’s Cabin. This book explains the hardships of slaves and the horrifying lives they have. During this time, many people were not aware of the terrible conditions they slaves lived in, but this book made people aware of the abuse of slaves. Uncle Tom's Cabin was a great seller and made people who had slaves or not aware of slave's tortuous lives.
