    North America - Early Native Americans

    The Anasazi lived in the Four Corners regions. They built underground ceremonial chambers called kivas. Pueblos are houses that are above the ground made out of a clay called adobe. Scholars believe that disease and drought chased the Anasazi out of their homes, also known as pueblos.

    Mesoamerica - Early Mesoamerican and South American Societies

    The Olmec were the first people group who developed the earliest civilizations in Mesoamerica. They made the first pyramids in the Americas using their architecture and sculpture skills. When their civilization ended (400 BC) trade spread the culture of the Olmec throughout the place. The Mayans also built pyramids, temples, palaces, and bridges. They also built canals to control the flow of water in the cities. The Aztecs were fierce warriors and the Incas were great builders.

    Europe - Democracy and Republic

    Democracy was founded by the Greeks. Democracy is where the people of their own nation rule themselves. This was created in the Greek's "Classical Age". A republic is where the people vote for officials (whose ideas seem beneficial to the people) to represent them during government/political meetings.

    West Africa - Musa Goes on a Pilgrimage

    Mansa Musa goes on a pilgrimage to Mecca. On the way, he brings many people with him and distributes tons of his wealth. Little did he know then was that he caused inflation. Good job Mansa Musa. Another for pilgrimage is a hajj. Mansa Musa strongly emphasized the importance of Islam throughout West Africa.

    South African Coast - Dias Sails Around

    Bartolomeu Dias sails around the South African coast in 1488. He had to eventually turn around and head back to Europe because his crew were getting sick and they needed supplies urgently otherwise everyone was gonna die.

    North America - Columbus Goes on a Journey

    Columbus wanted to sail the long way to get to Asia. Little did he know that there was a big chunk of land standing in the way. That chunk of land was North and South America. Columbus stumbled upon this continent on his first voyage in 1492.

    South America - Vespucci Finds South America

    Amerigo Vespucci finds South America in 1501. Vespucci knew that this land that he landed on was not Asia. This German map creator named America after this guy and that's when Europeans started calling these two continents on the other side of the sea America. Amerigo called this new land a "new world."

    North America - Ponce de Leon Finds It

    In 1512, Leon found modern day Florida. The year after that, he looked for the Fountain of Youth, which was a myth. Royals gave him permission to colonize the land that he found. He sadly failed.

    Europe - Protestant Reformation Started by Marthin Luther

    Martin Luther was a German priest that criticized the Catholic Church on how they abused their power and money. This started in small German towns but spread through Europe easily. The Protestants are church followers that protest against certain church practices and beliefs.

    South America - Hernan Cortes Goes to the Aztecs

    In 1519 Hernan Cortes leaves Cuba to go to the Aztec Empire. He went there because it was known to be very wealthy in gold and silver. He also wanted to bring his troops there because he wanted to convert them to Christianity. The Aztecs outnumbered the Spaniards but the Spaniards had the guns, horses, and armor. In the end Cortes and the group defeat the Aztecs.
  • Europe - Spanish Armada is Defeated

    The Spanish Armada (a group of 130 ships with around 27,000 soldiers and sailors) was sent to end the English stealing goods from Spanish ships after they returned from North America. These ships were supposed to invade England and over throw the ruler Queen Elizabeth I. Because the English had smaller ships (which means they're faster) they managed to defeat the Armada in a vast battle.
  • America - Workers Were Needed

    Because of all the plantations in North and South America, English farmers needed to have someone work the land. Since there was a loss of Native American workers due to the fact all of them were dying out because of the diseases the Europeans brought, they had to bring in West African slaves. Why? Because these West African slaves had built up immunity to the disease.

  • New Netherlands/New York - Dutch Found a Trading Post

    The Dutch people found a trading post mainly for fur in New Netherlands. The group that they exchanged fur with was with the Iroquois. New Amsterdam on the Manhattan Island was the town where the center of the fur trading was.
  • Virginia - Pocahontas marries John Rolfe

    In 1614, Pocahontas married Rolfe, a colonist who brought profit to Jamestown with a new type of tobacco. The marriage of Rolfe and Pocahontas brought peace between the Colonists and the Powhatan. Sadly, she died 3 years later in England while on a trip with Rolfe.
  • Virginia - Samoset Walks into a Colony

    Samoset,a Native American walked into the settlement of Virginia with broken English that he learnt from English fishing crew He and a Patuxet Indian,Squanto,gave over some useful information to the the Pilgrims which made a strong and peaceful relations.Because of Squanto,the Plymouth Colony improved from creating good relations with the Wampanoag Indians and making fertilizer out of fish remains etc.The Pilgrims invited 90 other foreign guests for a feast which was the first Thanksgiving.
  • Around the World - Trading Spread

    English Traders were trading all over the world. American traders traded mostly with Great Britain or West Asia. American traders/merchants became wealthy by trading/selling sugar and tobacco. American colonies and Britain didn't trade directly, it was through the triangular trade which was a trade system going from America, Britain, and Africa.
  • Boston Harbour - Boston Tea Party

    Parliament taxed the tea that was coming into America.Then the colonists reacted by smuggling tea into colonies so they didn't have to pay the duty.The BEIC offered to sell their tea to the colonists for a low price and still make profit.If there was cheaper tea, the merchants would be influenced to smuggle less which meant more tax money.When 3 ships carrying tea came to Boston,they were asked to leave but yet they stayed. that night,colonists snuck on board and dumped tea into the harbour.
  • Modern Day

    Native American/West African slaves became a form of property in America because plantations were needed to be worked on. To this day, there are still people out there who are dehumanized and treated as slaves all over the world.

    During the 1690s, a group of girls in the town of Salem, Massachusetts accused people of cursing them. To this day many people accuse immigrants in the Europe, US, Latin and Pacific America, and Africa.

    It is said on the 5 pillars of Islam that every Muslim person should go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. Mansa Musa, a strong ruler who strongly emphasized Islam, did this centuries ago. To this present day, millions of Muslims do the same.
