  • Residential schools

    Residential schools

    Residential schools where the worst schools to go to because they would beat you and would take away your food privileges if you did something wrong. But it was only the Indigenous kids that had to go there because they looked different and didn't speak the same as us. They would get hurt if they spoke their language that wasn't English. They would take children from their own home and give them 15 minutes to pack up their stuff and leave with a stranger and they would take them to school.
  • Spanish flu

    Spanish flu

    The Spanish flu was a disease that wiped out most of the world because it was so bad and deadly. Out of 8 million people in Canada 2 million of them got infected by the Spanish flu. The symptoms of the Spanish flu are initial chill, fever, body aches and lot of pain, nose congested, and having a high body temperature and heart rate. It was easy to spread because of the war and how everyone was so sick and hurt from fighting and needing to go to the hospital.
  • Winnipeg General Strike

    Winnipeg General Strike

    The Winnipeg strike was for people to get their wages up and to work in better conditions then they where working in. All of Winnipeg went on strike from May 15th to June 25th 1919. Stores, factories, streetcar operators, postal workers, firefighter, and more store refused to work in this time until they got what they wanted.
  • Bloody Saturday

    Bloody Saturday

    Bloody Saturday was the day the marked the end of the Winnipeg General Strike. They arrested the strike leaders and some of the soldiers returned home.

    The flapper was a big deal in the 1920's because it was the first dress that women could wear out in public and being able to show skin without getting in trouble by the men. They didn't have to wear clothing that covered everything anymore. When they went out for the night they could wear something that shows a bit more skin and for them to be not so hot when they dance around.

    Golden age of sports

    This was a great year for sports because this is when lots of people came back from the war and everyone was happy. They had lots of celebrating but one thing was for sure is that they had their sports to play and watch. This was the year Babe Ruth came to life in baseball and lots of people started to get into it a bit more. Sports where all over the radio also and people loved it because it was something to do and new to see each time they played. It's good for us because we will have sports.

    The great depression was bad because a lot of people had no where to live so they had to go to the streets, they couldn't afford anything like food or water so lots of people where sad and hungry.
  • Jazz age

    Jazz age

    The jazz age in the 1920's was also big because it was new music for every one and people loved to dance to it and sing to it. It was fun up beat songs and easy to dance to and get you moving around even if you weren't a big dancer. Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington where the two main people that where big in the 1920s for Jazz. They made their firs records in the 1920s

    There was two new political parties in the 1920s it was the Democratic and Whig parties.

    The new deal

    The new deal was to help the people that didn't have a lot of money and need it. President Franklin D. Roosevelt came up with it and it helped a lot.
  • The Radio

    The radio was a great invention in the 1920's because you could hear music, sports, talk shows and other information they had on it. The inventors of radio where Nikola Tesla, Reginald Fessenden, Guglielmo Marconi and William Dubilier. It was good for history because we now still have radios and listen to them in our cars.

    Some of the causes of the great depression are the stock market crashed, low demand high unemployment, over supply and over production problems. Everyone was just sad and didn't know what to do with themselves. They wanted jobs but didn't they didn't have enough money to give them so they couldn't work.

    Black Tuesday was a bad day for a lot of people. The stock market crashed lots of people lost a lot of money. It was the beginning of the great depression.

    The Bennett buggy's where a great invention because it was a way to get around to places. It was a great thing for farmers to get land work done. It was a like a car but it was pulled by a horse, the car part had windows and doors but it was powered by a horse that walked you places. E.Bones of Hebert SK made this a thing.

    Relief camps in 1920s where for men the hopped on trains and went places look for jobs when they got there the police would be there for them to arrest them. They would get denied everywhere because they didn't have enough jobs for everyone, so they made these camps for men to work at but get paid much less and work 6 days a week. They did a lot of hard labour and didn't get paid all that well. They got mad and didn't like that but when they didn't know it seemed like a good idea at the time.
