    John Addams
    John Adams sent a delegation to the French but was confronted by three french agents known as X, Y, and Z who demanded a 250,000 loan to speak to the french minister. John Adams raised residency requirements for the citizens of the US to 5-14 years. He went against the first decleration of the Decleration of Independence by sending people who said anything bad about the government to jail.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson
    During this time was known as the Jacksonian era. Jefferson tried to reduce bureaucracy and to eliminate taxes. He established Judicial Review where the supreme court had the ability to declare a law or act unconstitutional. Thomas Jefferson bought a massive area of land called the Louisiana purchase from the British and sent Lewis and Clark to go explore and map out the land.

    The War of 1812 is a war that no one won but the Natives lost all their lands and most of their religion after the war. The US thought that they could easily take Canada land and the British were taking American Sailors into their army. The Americans saw this as a war act and declared war on the British. However the Natives, Canadians, and the British all teamed up against the US.

    James Madison was the president of the US during the war of 1812 mostly known for his show of leadership in the war. It was because of James Madison that the Bill of Rights were added into the Deceleration of Independence.
  • James Monroe

    James Monroe
    During Monroe's time as president nationalism established quite quickly which became a concern of the administration. The Adams-Onis Treaty gave the US Florida and southern parts of America. He created the Monroe Doctrine which stated "Don't mess with the western hemisphere"-James Monroe.

    Martin Van Buren was hand picked by Andrew Jackson as the next president of the US. Given the problems from Jackson Pet-Banks he was blamed for the problems that were caused. Making him one of the worst presidents in the US.

    The Panic of 1837 was caused because of Jackson's Pet-Banks not making gold backings for every dollar. This caused people to lose their life saving and all their money because of this people started to hide their money and not trust the government. This cased many banks to shut down and a loss of power.

    During Andrew Jackson time as president he fired all the administration staff who did not support him and hired new people who did support him this was called the spoiler system. Jackson created a law saying that all Natives were to lead American land however the Supreme Court declared this unconsitutional but Jackson did it anyway. Andrew Jackson went against the National Bank and created Pet-Banks creating a money problem for almost everyone.

    Trail of Tears
    The Trail of Tears was a forced march for the Native Americans living in the US at that time. A 5,045 miles trip in 25 days to Tennessee, Ohio, Mississippi, and Arkansas. An estimate of about 3,000 Native Americans died on this march.
  • Harrison and Tyler

    Harrison and Tyler
    William Henry Harrison was elected president in 1840 but died 30 months after his election. Making his vice president John Tyler president in his place. Tyler was the first vice president in US history to take a presidential place.
