America buys Louisiana Territory for France for a cheap price and doubles its size.

The first cotton factory was created. It was worked by a bunch of cotton gins working together.

Missouri is admitted into the union and Maine is admitted as a free state.

Andrew Jackson Elected

Andrew Jackson is elected President of the United States of America

Indian Removal Act

May 28, 1830

Andrew Jackson removed the Native Americans and gave them a place to live in Oklahoma.

Trail of Tears

The Indians are removed and many of them died on the way to Oklahoma. It was very sad for the Indians.

Mexican American War

May 13, 1846

A war between Mexico and America over the border. Mexico thought the border was the the Nueces River, but America thought the border was the Rio Grande.

Compromise of 1850

Nothern California would become a free state and the south would have the Fugitive Slave Law

Bleeding Kansas

There was a lot of fighting in Kasas because everybody either wanted slavery or no slavery.

Kansas Nebraska Act

This was basicly a fix of the Missouri compromise. Lots of people now rushed to Kansas becuase popular soveirnty was being used.

Bessemer process patented

This process turned molten iron into steel. This would later help the skyscraper industry.

Dred Scott Decision

Dred Scott was very disrespected in court as did not recieve a fair trial. The government was very racist to him.

Oil discovered in Pennsylvania

It was discovered in Titusville, PA by Edwil L. Drake. This started a new industry that help other industries like later, the car industry.

John Brown's Raid

On this day John Brown led 21 men into a federal arsenal in Harpers Ferry. He was trying to free the slaves.

Lincoln elected

Abraham Lincoln was elected as president for the United States of America

Civil War

This was a war between the South and the North. The South wanted slavery, and the North wanted to abolish it.

Battle of Gettysburg

The South tried to invade the North. This was a turning point in the war. The Union won this battle.

Emancipation Proclamation

Sep 22, 1863

President Lincoln wrote this proclimation stating that slavery everywhere will be abolished. Now the North had something to fight for.

Sherman's March to the Sea

Sherman captured the a port in Savannah at the end of this march.

Surrender at Appomattox Court House

Apr 9, 1865

The South surrendered here and the North had won the war. This ended the bloodies American wars of all time.

Reconstruction

Apr 10, 1865

America had to rebuild itself and make freedom available to all people. This probably would take a long process, but it needed to be done.

Lincoln Assassinated

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Boot in Fords Theater. He was shot in the back of the head.

Black Codes

These were secrative codes that the South used. They stated that African Americans still didn't have rights in the South.

13th Amendment

This abbolished slavery everywhere in America. Now slaves were free anywhere they went.

Johnson's Impeachment

Andrew Johnson had a case was might have gotten impeached becuase of crimes and misdemeanors

14th Amendment

Jul 9, 1868

This amendment granted freedom to all people that live in America and that laws apply to them.

Transcontinental Railroad completed.

May 10, 1869

A railroad across the country that would make travel quicker and more effective. Now a 6 month trip could take 6 days.

15th Amendment

Feb 3, 1870

This granted voting right to African Americans and any color of race.

John D. Rockefeller invented this industry and make million using tactics and bought other companies.

First telephone called

Now people could talk from their own homes and communicate the same. This was inspired by the telepraph.

Light bulb invented

the light bulb was invented by burning cardboard between an electiric current. This would revolutionize electricity
