  • Palmer Raids

    Palmer Raids
    This was a series of raids the gov't did. It was done because of the Red Scare. Everyone was suspicious of communism. The goal was to arrest any foreign anarchists.
  • 19th Amendment

    19th Amendment
    Many women were outraged because they were not allowed to vote. They kept pushing the gov't to let them vote and set up rallies and protests to get their right to vote. They finally won and officially were allowed to vote because of the 19th amendment.
  • Emmigration Quotas

    Emmigration Quotas
    The gov't set up quotas on how many immigrants America would take. America wasn't taking many immigrants at the time. The people didn't want immigrants to change our culture, take jobs, or spread communism so the quotas were very strict.
  • Sacco And Vanzetti Case

    Sacco And Vanzetti Case
    This was a court trial that came up due to people thinking Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti commited a murder. There wasn't a whole lot of evidence to back up the conviction. The only reason the court had them arrested was due to prejudices the people had about them because they were Italian immigrants and they were perceived as anarchists who wanted to spread communistic or other gov't ideas that America didn't accept. Ultimately, Sacco and Vanzetti were both arrested and later executed.
  • Tariffs

    Tariffs
    The gov't got the Fordney-McCumber tariff passed and raised tariffs signifigantly to help American businesses. This in turn hurts other countries mostly in Europe who were still struggling economically after the war to get their countries back together. When Adolf Hitler rose to power this was one of the reasons Germany didn't like America much because we were making their lives worse with taxes that couldn't be paid.
  • Yankee Stadium

    The 1st Yankee stadium is built. It was bought from the William Waldorf Astor estate. !0 acres were 1st bought to make the stadium. Osborn Engineering was the architect that designed it.
  • The Great Gatsby

    The Great Gatsby
    F. Scott Fitzgerald publishes his 3rd classic novel. He wrote it about a life he wanted to live where he could be rich on Long Island but he wasn't able to fulfill that dream. The Great Gatsby at first didn't even sell very well but took off after his 1st book "This Side Of Paradise" got more popular and soon more of his books made him famous.
  • Evolution Theory

    Evolution Theory
    Many people beleived god made everything. John Scope got arrested because he tried to teach children about evolution instead but society couldn't accept that. The court found Scopes guilty for teaching Darwin's theory in school.
  • Lucky Lindy

    Lucky Lindy
    Charles Lindbergh is the 1st person to successfully make a 1 person transatlantic flight. He traveled from New York to Paris. He flew in his plane called The Spirit Of Saint Louis.
  • Mickey Mouse

    Mickey Mouse
    Walt Disney creates the 1st animation with sound. It was an animation of Mickey stearing a boat down a river and playing music for Minnie. It was in black and white but it became famous due to it's revolution for cartoons.
