    Slavery

    Slaves were put to work on plantations in the south, and many would runaway to the north. Much of GA's wealth came from slave labor, during a time called Antebellum
  • Missouri Compromise

    It made a compromise between the North and the South to divide Missouri into part slave, part free. A congressman wanted Missouri to do away with slavery, but Missouri wanted to stay slave, and they made Missouri a slave state and Maine a free state.
  • Chickamauga

    Chickamauga was the biggest battle in GA, and there was no winner because both sides lost many soldiers. Chickamauga changed the course of the war was very important to the Cherokee Nation.
  • Gettysburg

    Many soldiers from Confederate and Union sides were injured or killed, and the Union won. The reason that Robert E. Lee started this was to collect supplies from Pennsylvania farmland and to rid fighting from battle scarred Virginia.

    Ku Klux Klan

    Ku Klux Klan was a clan of people who sought after torturing and restricting the rights of blacks. The KKK was formed to defeat the Republican party and obtain even more white supremacy.

    Sharecropping

    Sharecropping was a way for newly free blacks to have a chance to make money and start a "new" life by growing crops under a plantation owner. 32 percent of state farms were run by sharecropping and the numbers only rose, increasing the south's economy.
