  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    needed money to finance war fith France so Britain taxed the colonists to pay for the war.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    THis ends seven Years of War in Europe.
  • Proclomation of 1763

    Proclomation of 1763
    Colonists were forbidden to cross the Appalachian Mountain Range. Colonists were angered that they werre being told what to do and wanted freedom.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Brtain put taxes on sugar and molasses
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Tax on any legal document/paper. colonists boycotted to get it repealed.
  • Writs of assistance

    Writs of assistance
    They were court orders that let any officer or guard search your home, luggage etc and didn't have to have a reason, they got to do as much or as little searching and didn't have to tell the owner what they were looking for.
  • Townshend Acts

    A series of laws that prohibited New York's assembly and put taxes on goods brought to the British colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    British Soldiers and colonists fought because of Quartering
    Act and finally both sides were so fed up they went and shot a bunch of the colonists.

    The Troops were able to live in the colonists' houses and use as much supplies as was necessary for them and the colonists got angry.
  • Tea Act/Boston Tea Party

    Britain put taxes on all tea. The Boston Tea Party was where some of the Sons of Liberty dressed as African Americans and boarded a tea boat and while they were in the ocean they dumped all of the tea into the ocean, and Britain got very mad.

  • Give me Liberty Speech

    Give me Liberty Speech
    Patrick Henery expected there to be a war sonce britain had tightened things up so he went to the House of Burgesss in Virginia and gave the famous "Give me Liberty or give me Death" Speech.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These kicked off the American Recolutionary War, British troops came to the colonies from Concord and Paul Revere got captured he was let go and warned the others of the "Red Coats." They were readyt and when 700 British troops came upon 70 malitia men they had killed 8 within minutes. 4000 mintemen and malitia men lined the road as British troops fled, they shot.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The first battle that included the Continental Army lead by George Washington was at Bunker Hill where ordered by Colonel William Prescott said "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!" a famous quote. The British troops won but with over 1400 deaths/casualties.
  • Common Sense

    Thomas Paine was an Englishman who sailed over and printed the pamphlet Common Sense which explained that other countries besides Britain will want business from the colonies. It also explained that they should definently get independence because it is not right that the colonies are being rulled by an island thousands of miles away
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    It was written by Thomas Jefferson, and adopted by the Continental congress on July 4th, 1776 and was signed that day. It was a kind of break up letter that talked about how we tried to find peace and Great Britain turned them down.
