  • Civil Rights Act of 1960

    Dwight D. Eisenhower signs the Civil Rights Act of 1960.This allowed African Americans to have more freedoms.

  • President Kennedy spends 17 billion dollars on nuclear missile program

    He then gives more military aid to Indochina and begins the creaton of the Peace Corps.

  • U.S invades Cuba at Bay of Pigs

    However,the mission was a failure.

  • U.S begins nuclear testing underground

    U.S was still in fear of a possible nuclear war with any country such as Russia,etc.

  • Kennedy warns the U.S. citizens to build underground shelters

    So that the people are more likely to be protected from a nuclear attack. U.S were still concerned with possibles attacks from other countries.

  • Boston SANE & SDS hold the first anti-nuclear march in Washington

    Several U.S. citizens were a bit unsure with having nuclear weapons.

  • Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy were arrested and sent to prison.

    Which results to Martin Luther King writing "Letter from a Birmingham Jail."

  • Kennedy establishes the Civil Rights Bill
