    Queen Elizabeth allowed Raleigh to send over 100 men from England to Roanoke Island after two of his explorers found it to be a perfect settlement.

    Jamestown was found
    The wellfare of the settlers in Jamestown colony depended on the envirments. They grew tabacco because it could grow there, and became a cash crops.

    Life in Jamestown wasn't that hard. Captain Smith returned to England, when he became ill. So then the relationship between the settlers and the Native Americans weakened.

    He only returned a portion of them so they moved me to another settlement and converted me to Christianity. That is where I met my husband John Rolfe. I married him. I again encouraged peace between England and Native Americans.

    After the successful harvest in the fall, Governor William Bradford held a celebration feast. We wanted to share our harvest of food.

    The governor of New Netherlands, Peter Minuit bought Manhattan Island in present day New York from the Manhattes Indians.

    For a time some the land was part of Pennsylvania, but later it became the colony of Delaware. So then they moved south by a few miles where they made present day Boston!

    South Carolina became a colony because of the tidewater. The soil was nice and rich. So, it was perfect for farming cash crops.

    Pennsylvania was founded
    Since even the Puritans in the New England colonies didn't accept us, King Charles II decided in 1681 to give me land in the New World that was southwest of New Jersey. He did this because he owned my deceased father for loan. I thought I would call the new land Sylvania which means "woods" but later, called it Pennsylvania.
