    Colonists from Virginia founded the colony of North Carolina. The colony was fueled by agriculture, and tobacco was the cash crop. Farming and industry were built around the crop. Used raw materials and natural resources they had to develop trade in cotton, rice, indigo and lumbar. A governor was appointed and the king had the right to approve or disapprove laws.
