    Maryland passed the toleration act. This act gave religious freedom to all Christians.

    King Phillip's War
    Disagreements over land led to war between the colonist and the Native Americans.
    Metacomet or King Phillip, the leader of the Wampanoag, united many tribes to fight against the colonist.
    Hundreds of colonist and thousands of Native Americans, including Metacomet were killed.
  • Pennsylvania is founded

    William Peen, an English Quaker, got approval to start a colony.
    He also became the owner or proprietor of Delaware.
    Penn wrote The Frame of Government of Pennsylvania. It gave people freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right trial by jury.

    Trading ships carrying goods and raw materials also carried enslaved people from central and western Africa.
    Middle Passage- Millions of enslaved Africans were placed on ships and were forced to travel across the Atlantic Ocean from Africa to the English colonies.
