    Mussolini's March on Rome

    A fascist leader who wanted power, Mussolini decided to march into Rome as a threat in order to gain said power. Due to the fact that nothing was stopping him, he became the leader Italy, making him the first of three axis power leaders.
  • Stalin becomes the USSR dictator

    Stalin becomes the USSR dictator

    As a commander, Stalin started to become popular around the early twenties. Lenin was the leader until 1924, where he had a stroke. Lenin had no predecessors, so Stalin took that opportunity and became the dictator of the USSR.
  • Mein Kampf

    Mein Kampf

    While he was in prison, Adolf Hitler wrote and published Mein Kampf, which discussed his future plans for Germany and his hate for the Jews. Although unpopular at the time, a lot more people started reading it when he comes to power a few years later, fueling his popularity and the hate for Jews.
  • 1st USSR Five year plan

    1st USSR Five year plan

    Stalin wanted to meet industrial and economic goals quickly, so he implemented a five year plan to achieve this. He was successful in this goal, the pay off however being that many died from famine. This also caught Germany off guard when the war begins, as they were able to fight off significantly better than the Germans expected due to this economic improvement.

    After setting up a staged event to get an excuse to invade Manchuria, Japan started a war with them and made it a puppet state. This gained a lot of attention, and caused Japan to withdraw from the League of Nations.

    Ukraine was terrorized by the soviet union, stealing a lot of food, rejecting outside aid, and restricting movement. This event caused major famine, leading to birth defects, cannibalism, and death, killing millions. This was likely to keep Ukraine under Stalin's belt, as rebellions started to occur there.

    Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany

    After joining the small party known as the Nazis, Hitler wanted to use it to obtain power and make it the primary party in Germany. He managed to do so over time, ran for chancellor, and after becoming one he slowly turned Germany into a dictatorship. He will now want to start implementing his plans, which become very horrid in the future.

    The Strumabteilung (SA), helped Hitler come to power and served as protection for the Nazi. After letting them become independent, Hitler felt threatened and ordered the assassination of its members, most of them being shot to death. This also made the military stronger and more loyal towards Hitler.

    Continuing his plan to hurt the Jews, Hitler implemented the very antisemitic Nuremberg laws, which forced Jews to wear the Star of David, made it illegal to marry Germans, and made it illegal for them to employ Germans. This law later included Gypsies and African Americans.

    Italian invasion of Ethiopia

    Wanting to build an empire, Mussolini invaded Ethiopia unannounced. They failed to defend, making Liberia the only African country not occupied by another country, and making Ethiopia part of Italy. Japan and Italy were both confronted for their actions, but were not punished, inspiring Germany to take land.

    The Great Purge and the gulags

    Stalin started ethnic cleansing, basically any minority, including red army members, and some government officials, and anyone that spoke against or were suspicious of being against the government. An estimated 1.2 million people were executed, and almost triple that were put in Gulags, which were forced labor camps.

    Nationalists started to rebel in Spain, and this caused a civil war between them and the Second Spanish Republic supporters.With some support of Germany and Italy, the Nationalists won and Francisco Franco became the dictator of Spain.

    Japan wanted to capture Nanjing, the capital of China, and in the process of doing so, they raped and murdered over 300,000 civilians, as well as looted many homes and businesses. This will anger a few other countries, especially the United States.
  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht

    An attack towards the Jews, Hitler had all police ignore any calls involving destruction, and had many people loot, destroy, and burn Jewish business and synagogues, as well as arrest many Jews. Over 7,000 businesses and 250 synagogues were destroyed, with over 30,000 being arrested. Jews were also fined for these damages, especially due to the broken glass everywhere.

    Mimicking Japan's and Italy's actions of invasion, Germany started taking over land. In 1939, however, Germany over stepped the line and invaded Poland and Germany, and after they agreed to split it between each other, Germany took the rest and accidentally triggered a world war.

    Bombing of Pearl Harbor

    An unexpected attack, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, which was located in Hawaii. This was likely due to the US response to what Japan was doing, which was withdrawing them from the oil trade. This turned the US into an official ally, formally neutral.
