    Germany and Russia signed a pact that they wouldn't invade each other's borders. The leaders of Germany and Russia, Hitler and Stalin, planned to divide up Poland and most of Eastern Europe among themselves.

    President Franklin Roosevelt convinces the Congress to pass this act so other country's can get some of our weapons for defense.

    Atlantic Charter
    Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt unveil Atlantic Charter after having secret meetings. Their meetings were conducted on warships off of Newfoundland. They talked about "the final destruction of Nazi tyranny," and an new pledge.

    Japan launches a bomb on the U.S Naval fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. President Franklin Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan December 8th. December 11th, Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S.

    Germany attacked a Russian city called Stalingrad. The battle lasted for 6 months and killed hundreds of thoousands of Russians. Germanhy then begins a retreat from the Eastern Front.

    Hitler sends a quarter of a million troops down a 85-mile stretch of the Allied Front. They walked in deadly cold weather. The German troops formed a deadly "bulge" pushing into Allied defenses.
