U.S. troops landed on Normandy on specific sectors of the beach most known and most brutal was Omaha beach. Troops had to run out of landing crafts and into the bloody sand of Omaha where countless of bullets flew past them until they finally overran the German defensive and captured the beach.

One of the final battles for Germany was during the Bulge when German and American soldiers both held their ground on both sides of the front. Harsh fighting took place when platoons would accidentally march into the other side and begin to open fire. The American troops finally pushed out the German defenders and took the Argonne forest.
