WWII Collaborative Project

  • Summary

    The students will be creating a timeline that explains the major events that lead to WWII after WWI. They will be using timetoast.com to complete the project in collaborative groups. They will have to cite evidence from three sources and include at least 15 events on their timeline.
  • Standards

    11-12.WHST.1 Write arguments focused on discipline specific content.
  • Grouping

    Students will be placed into groups that the teacher selects. They will be arranged into groups of 3 with all ability levels intermixed.
  • Assignment Requirements

    Students will have to make a timeline on timetoast.com that explains 15 events (with at least 3 cited sources) and pictures for each event. Three of the events must be related to Hilter, three must be related to the U.S., and the rest must be from other events in Europe and Asia.
  • Resources

    Students can use any reliable resource they would like for information but they must use timetoast.com (or another timeline maker) to complete the project.
  • Learning Outcomes

    The students will be able to analyze the causes of WWII. They will also be able to evaluate and analyze multiple sources of information and cite them. They will also be able to write clear and concise reasons for why WWII happened.

    Students will get into groups and assign jobs.
    Students will begin research on Hilter.
    Students will begin research on U.S. involvement.
    Students will begin research on other countries.
    Students will create timeline.
    Students will cite sources.
    Students will find pictures.
    Students will present projects to the class.
  • Assessment/Rubric:

    Students will be assessed by a teacher created rubric as follows.
    100 points total. 2 points for each event. 2 points for citing each event with a source. 2 points for each picture. 5 points for each student presenting something to the class. 5 points for writing out what each of your group members did. 10 points for the overall look/grammar of the project.
