    After they invaded Manchuria and ignored the League’s protests they withdrew from the League of Nations in 1933. They left because the League thought it would be best to give China give back Manchuria but the Japanese was not happy with that because they thought the city was rightfully theirs.

    The Rhineland, a very important industrial area, was attacked by German troops. The attack helped strengthen Hitler’s power and it showed his bravery. The attack of the Rhineland was a very important turning point in the March toward War.

    Germany decided to go to war with the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg in an attempt to scare France. During the time of these attacks, France was not paying attention to their own country. Hitler took that as a chance to invade France and eventually led to the Fall Of France.

    The Japanese sent the U.S. military a message that they would attack but when or where was no specified. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and within two hours more than 19 ships were either sunk or damaged and 3,400 people were either killed or injured. The next day President Roosevelt declared war on Japan.

    Japanese turned their attention to the Philippines and after three months of fighting, the Bataan Peninsula was theirs. They seized Hong Kong and invaded Malaya from the ocean and Thailand overland. After a long battle they surrendered. By then The Japanese acquired the Dutch East Indies. They had control over 1 million square feet of land and nearly 150 million people.
