  • The Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles was one of the treaties that ended World War I. 414 of the 440 clauses of the treaty punished Germany. Provisions included reparation payments, military restrictions, and a War guilty clauses that forced Germany to take responsability for World War I.
  • Beer Hall Putsch

    The Beer Hall Putsch was a failed attempt by Hiltler the Nazis to seize power in Munich, Bavaria during the 8th and 9th of November 1923. About two thousand men marched. This caused a fight with police officers causing sixteen Nazis and four policement to be killed.This failure brought Hitler his first national publicity.

  • Wall Street Sotck Market Crash

    On October 24th, the market lost 11% of its value at the opening bell on heavy trading. On October 28th, more investors decided to get out oft the market, and the market lost 13% of its value. On October 29th, about sixteen million shares were traded, and the market lost 12% of its value. The market lost $14 billion on October 29 alone. This crash marked the beginning of the ten-year Great Depression. The market crash & Great Depression formed the largest financial crisis of the 20th century.
  • Hitler becomes dictator

    On this day, the Reichstag met to consider passing Hitler's Enabling Act. If it was passed, it would vote democracy out of existense and establish dictatorship of Hitler. There were Nazis everywhere, intimidating the people who were going to vote. After he made a couple of empty promises, the vote was taken, and only 84 were against. Democracy was ended and Hitler became dictator.

  • Nazi boycott Jewish businesses

    The Nazis boycotting Jwish business was an effect of the Jewish boycott of German goods when Hitler became Chancellor in January. It was a state-managed campaign of harrasment towards Jews. This was the first nationwife action against Jews. Signs were posted saying "Don't Buy from Jews!" By 1945, all of the Jeiwsh-owned stores had Aryan owners.

  • Nuremberg Laws

    The Nuremberg Laws were prejudice laws that the Nazis introduced at the annual Nuremberg Rally of the Nazi Party. These laws classified people with four German grandparents as German, people with one or two Jewish grandparents as Mischling, and people with three or four Jewish grandparents as Jews. These laws deprived Jews and other non-Aryans of German citizenship and banned racially mixed sexual relationships and marriages between Germans and Jews.

  • The Night of Broken Glass

    This event appeared to be set off by angry Germans over the assasination of a German official in Paris by a Jewish teenager. In two days, over 250 synagogues were trashed and dozens of Jewish people were killed. This night became known as the "Night of the Broken Glass" because of the shattered glass from the store windows.

  • Japan attacked the United States

    This attack led to the United States entry to World War II.
    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military attack on the United States by Japan. During the attack, 2,402 Americans were killed and 1,282 were wounded. The following day, the United States declared war on Japan.
