    Franz Ferdinand was an Austrian Archduke. Franz and his wife were murdered by Gavrilo Princip. This killing resulted in the beginning of WWI.

    Sinking of the Lusitania
    Lusitania was hit by a torpedo fired from a German submarine U 20 near the coast of Ireland. nearly 1200 people on board died and 128 of them were Americans. This attack greatly angered the Americans and their hatrerd for the Germans grew. This attack was regarded as an act of terrorism, instead of war.

    This pledge stopped German from sinking non-military ships. Now the ships had to be searched and if they where caught smuggling they were allowed to sink the ships. Only after the crew and passengers were given a safe passage.

    This war took place in the North Sea. This was a tactiful victory for the germans, while for the british it was a stratgic victory. The Royal Naval had a very frustating defeat with this battle.

    It was a soded telegram that was sent to a German envoy that resided in Mexico, from Alfred Zimmerman. This telegram was intercepted by the British. This telegram, is what made President Wilson decalre war on Germany.

    President Wilson asked the Congress the decalre war after he read the stolen Zimmerman Telegram. Also the Germans were still using unrestricted subrmarine warefare. President Woodrow Wilson signed the resolution to go to war on April 6, 1917.

    This act required men that were between the age of 21 and 30 to register for the war. President Wilson supported this act, because he knew a draft was necessary. 2.8 million Amercans were drafted.

    This battle is also called the Third Battle of Ypres. This battle wasfought, because Sir Douglas Haig's wanted to break through Flanders. On July, 18 1917, a heavy artillary barrage that was launched at the Germans, lasted for ten days.

    Soviet Russia and the Central Powers signed this treaty at Brest-Litovsk. Russia alot of terriorty by signing this treaty. They had to give up Ukraine and Finland. German soldiers also had to leave the remaing Russian llands.
