German invasion of Poland
The beginnig of the invasion of Poland.The complete takeover of Poland was not until October 6, 1939. Germany toke over Poland using the German Blitzkrieg tactic. Germany did this because Adolf Hitler had recently risen to power and Germany wanted to get more power after the Treaty of Verasilles. This caused France and Britian to wage war on Germany. -
German invasion of Paris
Germany invaded Frnace. Germany first put troops in Belguim where France and Britian thought they would put them but then they had another plan to put troops at the bottom which they used to surpise the allies. Britian fled leaving France on it's own. France had to surrender causing Germany to get full control of France. -
U.S. and Britian trade land and resources
The U.S. traded the British war supplies and warships and Britian gave the U.S. bases in Bermuda and the caribbean. This was because the Britian needed to build up their army so they need weapons and the U.S. need those bases because they knew Japan was using the sea to travel and they were allied with Germany. Thsi alllowed Britian to have a slim fighting chance aganist Germany -
German bombing of London
German air planes bombed major cities especially London. THe germans did this aa almost a warning that they would attack Britian and try to invade them. It caused Britian t try and beef up their army and stay aware of Germany's actions -
Germany invaded the Soviet Union
Germany invaded the Soviet Union but Russia won the battle. Germany double crossed the Soviet Union because they wanted to be the strongest in Europe. Since Russia won and Germany lost for the first time during the war it caused a turing point in Eastern Europe. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
The attack on Pearl Harbor is when Japanese aircraft carriers snuck into U.S. waters and launched a surpise attack aganist the navy base stationed there. It destroyed all if not most of the base and some of Pearl Harbor(the city). The Japnese di this because they saw the US as a major threat in the water so they wanted to damage the navy as much as they can. This caused the United States to declare war on Japan the next day. -
U.S. Declares war on Japan
After the attack on Pearl Harbor the US was in shock this caused a lot of Americans to think that they should go to war. President Roosevelt was already waiting to help the allies in war now he had a chance to get congress to agree. Franklin Roosevelt spoke his speech and convinced the US to declare war on Japan and Germany. This caused Germany and Japan to declare war on the US. -
Battle of Midway
Thsi was the main turning point in the war. Japan had been moving towards the US. They had taken over many islands we had previously owned. In this battle the US was victorious turning the war around allowing the US to advance towards Japan. Thsi was Midway beween Japan and the United States so it gave the US an advantage allowing it to move towards Japan. This caused the major turn point. -
D-Day
This event happened to free concentraion camps in Germany. Allied troops landed in Normandy coast to raid the concertaion camps it allowed all Jews to be freed from the camps. -
Hiroshima bombing
This event happened try and get Japan to surrender it was more of a warinig shot to get Japan to surrender and end the war quickly.
