By November the Soviet Union launched a counterattack and surrounded Germany. German troops were struggling with fatigue, food shortages, and medical supplies but Hitler wouldn't let them retreat. Although on February 2, 1943 Germany surrendered. This was a turning point in favor for the Allies and ended Hitler's plans of taking over.
