Most decisive naval battle in the pacific campaign. U.S. had broken the Japanese radio code and were able to anticipate the impending Japanese strike. The U.S. crushed the Japanese attack and this marked the first time Japan had lost a naval battle in a century. -

Allied invasion of German occupied France. June 6th marks the day the allied forces took the beach marking the beginning of the recapture of France. -
