    Germany and the Soviet Union made a pact ensuring that they would be neutral towards each other. Since they had a pact to stay neutral Germany invaded Poland. This is the event that triggered World War 2.

    France and Britain declared war on Germany because of their attack on Poland. Once they declared war on Germany World War 2 officially began. Within a month Poland was defeated.

    Germany invaded Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg even though they were neutral in the war. It also invaded France. This meant that it captured Paris and that France had surrendered to the Nazis.

    President Roosevelt passes the lend lease act. This means that the U.S can help any country with war supplies as long as the president feels that they are allies. This helped the U.S because if the countries wanted the war supplies they had to directly give the U.S money.

    Germany invaded the Soviets along with their allies. This broke the German- Soviet pact made in 1939. This meant that the Soviets and the Germans were no longer neutral towards each other.

    Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. As an immediate defense the Unites States declared war on Japan. Germany declared war on the U.S because they were allies with Japan, this meant that the U.S was now involved in World War 2.

    The Germans were trying to capture Stalingrad. The Soviets however, launched a counteroffensive in Stalingrad taking away the option of regaining it. The German sixth army surrendered on February 2nd 1943 to the Soviets.

    The Meeting of the “Big Three”. Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin or the big three had a meeting to discuss the invasion of Italy. This is the first time that all of them have met.

    Over 150,000 allied soldiers are sent to the french coastline. France was liberated by the end of August. This event was called D-Day.
