WWII timeline of Mauz

  • WWII started

  • Vladek Spiegelman at age 22 went to join the army.

    There is no real picture for this other then the book's graphic.

  • Vladek Spiegelmen was captured, and shortly taken to a P.O.W camp shortly after joining the war.

    Vladek Spiegelmen was captured by the Nazi's shortly after joining the war in 1940

  • Vladek Spiegelman visited Ilzecki about hiding his first born son.

    Ilzecki's son made it out of the war alive, Vladek's did not. The book stated late 1941 for the date, I presume it is November at the time.

  • Vladek recieves a note saying All Jews over 70 years of age would be transfered to Theresien in czecholslovakia

    At the time Vladek was living with his wife's parents, and hid them behind a false wall in their storage shed.

  • At the end of 1943 Vladek hid with his wife in a secret bunker in the ghetto they where in escaping being taken to Auschwitz just for the time being.

    The book just states the end of 1943, so I put the date close to the end for the time line not to put it just at the beginning of 1943.
  • Vladek spiegelmen was taken to Auschwitz in 1944

    I believe this is a picture at Auschwitz, but I don't know for conformation.

  • Vladek Spiegelman got typhus

    I still don't know the full date, but I know this towards the ends of the war, that is how he got liberated.

  • Just before the war was over Vladek was liberated.

    There was no real date, the book just states the last few minutes of the war I (Vladek) left Dachau.
