Zeppelins are a lot like airplanes. They are essentially huge blimps. They were attacking London. There were different sized Zeppelins. There were huge and small ones. Each size was used for different battles.

Germany sunk a boat with many American passengers on it. This was very important because this caused America to be angry at Germany.

Italy entered the war as one of the Allies. Italy became a helpful country to us while fighting Germany.

The Germans attacked the French. This battle continued for 9 months. The battle was inconclusive.The casualties were very very very high on both sides. They lost hundreds of thousands of men.

Romania joined the war on the side of the Allies. But within a few months was occupied by Germans and Austrians.

The battle was preceded by a week long bombardment of the German line. They only succeeded in making no mans land. The five month long battle made over 420,000 casualties on just the British side alone.

The first air raid was from Germany and they attacked London. This pushed London into protecting their home instead of pushing Germans air force.

The U.S. declares war on Germany because of the Lusitania sinking. The submarines Germany used were very powerful and hard to stop.

The allies had taken almost all of German-occupied France and part of Belgium. The allies took back our ally countries. This was a huge deal for the war. We were defeating Germany.
