    Hitler becomes Fuhrer

    This is when Hitler rose to power in Germany after the president, Paul Von Hindenburg passed away. This is very important leading into World War 2. Hitler gained the public support he needed.
  • Czechoslovakia is in German control

    Czechoslovakia is in German control

    By the end of February 1939, all of Czechoslovakia was occupied by Germany. They were now gaining momentum and power throughout Europe. This is important because it showed Germany that they could invade other places. As we know, they KEPT taking control of other countries after this.
  • Munich Pact

    Munich Pact

    After Hitler and the Nazi party take over some of Europe, the Munich Pact was created to stop his reign, Britain and France signed this in 1938. It made Hitler promise not to invade other countries. He agreed, but quickly broke this pact. This is important because it shows that Hitler was not stopping his plan for other people. He later conquered more of Europe.
  • Non Aggressive Pact

    Non Aggressive Pact

    This pact was made between the Soviet Union and Germany. It practically said that if Germany did not attack the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union would not harm Germany. This made an alliance with the eastern side of Europe. Now, in between them is Poland. This is very important because it shows that the Soviet Union did not want to fight, they had just got out of WWl and did not want more destruction or to get in Germany's way.

    Poland is taken into German control

    This was the first big invasion after the Munich Pact was signed. Hitler had broken the promise with Britain and France. He wanted to take back the land after losing World War l. This is important because it showed Germany's dominance over everyone else. He was not worried that other countries did not agree with him.
  • France unconditionally surrenders

    France unconditionally surrenders

    On June 13th, Paris was evacuated. As Germany moved in on France, they did not want their city destroyed so they peacefully surrendered to the Germans. There was no fighting in France. This is important because it shows France's attitude toward the war. Which is fear, and preservation.
  • Bombing Of Pearl Harbor

    Bombing Of Pearl Harbor

    On this date Japan (allied with Germany) attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor. This was the turning point for Americans to get involved. Around 2,500 Americans were killed. Later, the United States declared War against Germany and Japan.
  • Battle of Berlin

    Battle of Berlin

    This is the last battle before Germany surrendered, it is also when Hitler committed suicide. It shows that Hitler did not want to face his consequences, but take his own life. This was the end point in the war that led to VE Day on May 8th 1945. It is important because it shows Germany's weakness and surrender.
  • The Atomic Bomb

    The Atomic Bomb

    On August 6th and August 9th, the United States used the Atomic Bomb on Japan. The first time we bombed Hiroshima to try and end the war. Around 100,000 people died from the first bombing and around 75,000 people at Nagasaki. This showed the power the US held over Japan.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day

    After a long time of fighting, Japan finally surrendered on August 15th 1945. The United states showed strength with bombing Japan twice. Once other countries threatened war on Japan, it was over. It was important because now war in Europe and Japan was totally over.
