    Germans snuck through the mines that Britain laid around. A couple hours after Germans invaded, the German minister demanded Norway's surrender. An accelerating German offensive in France led the British to transfers thousands of soldiers from Norway to France. Leading Germans to automatic victory. In Denmark leader King Christian X knew Germans couldn't be defeated, so he convinced his army to not fight off the Germans. Denmark surrendered almost immediately.

    Operation "Barbarossa" was code name of the invasion of the Soviet Union. It was the largest German military operation of World War ll. Germans also had intentions to terminate all Jews of the Soviet Union.

None of the allied troops knew the extent of the murders until the end of the war when the camps were liberated.

  • Axis alliance

    Japan, Italy, and Germany were a part of the axis alliance. Hitler told Mussolini (Italy's leader) his plans and that he expected Italy's full help. Because he expected all Italian help, Italy didn't join Germans on their attacks. Italy attacked other countries on their own. Italy was the first of the axis partners to give up to the allied powers. After Hitler committed suicide, Nazis unconditionally surrendered to the allies. This left Japan to fight alone until their surrender in 1945.

    Japan was the last of the axis powers to surrender. Through any battle Japan was very stubborn and wouldn't surrender. The US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6th. Even after the bomb was dropped, Japan still was not going to surrender until finally three days after the bombing, the US dropped another atomic bomb in Nagasaki. Japan finally surrenders after about 100,000 people died during the bombings.
