    Treaty of Versailles
    The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty signed after World War I, which had ended in 1918 in the shadow of the Russian Revolution and other events. The treaty was signed at the vast Versailles Palace near Paris. It was signed after months of argument and negotiation amongst the "Big three" as to what the treaty should contain. The "Big three" was Britain, France, and America.

    Nazi Party
    Adolf Hitler becomes the leader of the NAZI party. This party beleived that the arian blood needed to stay "pure". They also beleived that jews didn't belong, so Hitler set up concentration camps and what not to kill jews.

    Adolf Hiltler became chancellor of Germany in January 1933. Almost immediately he started building up Germany's army and weapons. In 1934 he increased the size of the army, began building warships and created a German airforce. Compulsary military service was also intorduced. In 1936 Hitler ordered German troops to enter Rhineland.

    Neutrality Act
    President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the 1937 Neutrality Act, which bans travel on belligerent ships, forbids the arming of American merchant ships trading with belligerents, and issues an arms embargo with warring nations.
  • Japan defeats China

    The Japanese defeat Chinese forces in a clash near Peking, taking control of North China.
  • Germant Invades Poland

    Germant Invades Poland
    Hitler invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939. Following that invasion, France and Britain declared war against Germany. After conquering Poland, Germany attacked France, and France fell in June, 1940. Then soon, the Nazi's overran most of the rest or Europe and North Africa. Only Britain, ruled by Winston Churchhill didn't get defeated by Germany.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japanese fighter planes attack the American base at Pearl Harbor destroying U.S. aircraft and naval vessels, and killing 2,355 U.S. servicemen and 68 civilians.
  • D-Day

    D-Day: The first of nearly 3 million Allied soldiers arrive in Normandy, on the northern shores of France.
  • Mussolini Dies

    Italian insurgents capture Mussolini, murder him, and mutilate his body.
  • Hitler committs suicide

    Adolf Hitler commits suicide in Berlin.
  • Hiroshima

    The United States drops an atomic bomb—the first to be used in warfare—on Hiroshima, killing 75,000 people instantly, and injuring more than 100,000.
  • Nagasaki

    A second atomic bomb is dropped in Nagasaki.
  • World War II ends

    A formal surrender ceremony is conducted in Tokyo Bay on the U.S. battleship Missouri. World War II officially ends.
