  • The Holocaust Begins

The Holocaust began when Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany.
  • Germany Annexes Austria

Austrian Nazis conspired for the second time in four years to seize the Austrian government by force and unite their nation with the Nazis.
  • Neville Chamberlain and Adolf Hitler meet to have a discussion

Chamberlain meets with Hitler in godesberg, Germany the first time to discuss Germany's aggressive foreign policy.
  • Countries Sign An Agreement

Germany, Italy, Great Britain, and France sign the Munich Agreement. After the German seizure of Austria Winston Churchill, ventured to pledge that in conjunction with France and the other powers they would make sure the security of Czechoslovakia.
  • Chamberlian and Hitler meet again to make an agreement (Munich Pact)

The two meet for the second time and they signed the Munich Pact, which gave the Sudentenland of Czechoslovakia to Germany. For this, Hitler agreed that Germany would not seek to acquire additional territory. As you can see Hitler was all about power and being selfish.
  • Germany breaks Munich Agreement

Germany breaks the Munich Agreement and invades the rest of Czech lands. In Henry Channon's diary, he wrote that Hitler has entered Prague and Czechoslovakia has ceased to exist. To him, no bolder departure has happend in History being that hitler broke the agreement that meant a lot at the time.
  • Henry Channon Diary Entry

"Hitler has entered Prague, apparently, Czechoslovakia has ceased to exist. No balder, bolder departure from the writter bond has ever been committed in history." Channon was born in America but later became a member of Parliament in Britain 1935, so he was a pretty important man. I felt that this diary entry proves that even the people who weren't necessarily harmed in Hitler's horrific actions, were effected by it because of how terrible and shocking it all was
  • Germany allies with the Soviet Union

Germany and the Soviet Union sign the Nazi-Soviet Pact, dividing Eastern Europe into spheres of influence. I belive that since the Soviet Union was so much more powerful and heavily armed than Germany, that Hitler would be too afraid to risk actually turning on the Soviets like he had before broken the Munich Agreement.
  • Germany invades Poland

Though In March, France and Great Britain had agreed to supprt Poland against Nazi aggression, they were not strong enough to stand in the way of Hitler and his people. I liked the idea that the countries were willing to put themselves in even more danger to help out another country. Even though they couldn't beat the Nazis, they still made an effort.
  • War declared on Germany

Two days prior to this date, Germany had invaded Poland. Honoring their support of Poland, Great Britain and France declare war on Germany. So even though these countries may been weaker than Germany, they still did not give up to fight against them which must have made Germany feel at least a little threatned.
  • The Holocaust Ends

Thankfully the Holocaust ended before it got even worse than before. In July 1944, Maidonek, a concentration camp in Poland eas liberated by Soviets. Followed by many other liberations and takeovers as Americans and other allies removed Hitler from power. In January 1945, Auschwitz, the biggest concentration camp in Nazi power and where most deaths occured, was liberated. The liberation of this camp was a huge part in ending the dreadful Holocaust.
