    On this day Adolf Hitler became the leader of the Nazi party. This would then lead up to Hilter becoming the chancellor of Germany in 1933.

    Germany was presented with a bill demanding payment for the damages caused by World War One which Germany had started. This bill had immediate effect causing ruinous inflation of Germany. Germans lost their life savings. Salaries were paid in worthless money. Groceries cost billions. Hunger riots broke out. This all because of the bill presented. Because of this the Nazis now felt it was the right time to strike.With Hitler leading they put their plan into action at Muinch Beer Hall.

    The Europeans held a conference to create and international organization called the League of Nations that would work to resolve disputes before they could escalate into wars. The agressor of World War One, Germany, was notably not invited to participate but striving for recognition Germany applied to join the organization, showing how they reformed. On this day, September 9th, Germany joined a permanent part of the League of Nations. This politically important move showed power and weakness.

    Hitler becomes the chancellor of Germany. This was a crucial turning point for Germany and, ultimatly for the world. Hitlers plan was to throw away politics and make Germany a powerful, unified one-party state. He began immediatly, ordering a rapid expansion of the police and puting Nazis completly incharge of the new security forces. From this moment on Nazi Germany was off and running and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it.

    The German Reichstag building, home of the German Goverment, burns after being set on fire by Nazis. This burning enabled Adolf Hitler to seize power under the pretext of protecting the nation from threats to its security.

    The Enabling Act gave Hitler dictatorial power. This was officailly called the 'Law for Removing the Distress of people and the Reich.' If passed, it would effectivly mean the end of democracy in Germany and establish the legal dictatorship of Adolf Hitler. By voting this into place they achieved what Hitler had wanted for years- to tear down the German democracy, thus paving the way for a complete Nazi takeover of Germany.

    Nazi Party is declared the only politicial party of Germany and outlawed any formation of other parties. With no other parties remaining, the Nazi Government passed the Law Against the Establishment of Parties. Anyone attempting to establish a party other than a Nazi party would suffer severe penalties.

    About nine months after Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany,the German Government announced their withdrawl from the League of Nations. The reason of their withdrawl was the refusal of Western powers to accept Germanys demands for military parity without protesting it. With Germanys letter Foreign Minister Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath informed the League of Nations. The withdrawl was followed by its massive military build up, undertaken in violation of international agreements.

    The German President Hindenburg dies. This death opens up the doors of the tyranny for Hitler, whom he appointed as chancellor in 1933.

    Immediatly following Hindenburgs dealth Hitler put two, techincally illegal, laws into place. Following the announcement of these laws, the German Officers' Corps and every individual in the German Army swore a personal oath of allegiance to Hitler.

    Hitler Violates Treaty
    In March 1935, under the government power of Adolf Hitler, Germany violated Part V of the Treaty of Versailles by introducing compulsory military conscription in Germany and rebuilding the armed forces. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaty's at the end of World War One. It ended the state of war between Germany and Allied Powers. By violating this treaty it put into the other states minds that Germany didn't respect them at all and wanted another reason to fight.

    Germany violated the Treaty of Versailles by sending German troops into Rhineland, a demilitarized zone along the Rhine River in Western Germany. By occupy Rhineland this gave Germany more land and gave them more power for the war to come. With more power and space this could give them the opportunity to build up a stronger army making them go farther in the war.

    On November 5, 1937, Hitler held a secret conference in the Reich Chancellery. During this secret conference he revealed his plans for the acquisition of Lebensraum . The primary objective in this war was to seize Czechoslovakia and Austria to protect Germany's southern and eastern flanks. By seizing these two it would create a bigger and better army for wars to come making Germany even more powerful than it already was.

    Mobilization is the act of assembling and making both troops and supplies ready for war. When Germany mobilized their troops they became more prepared for the war that was about to start in the next year to come. By preparing their troops they were ready for anything whereas the other troops had no idea the war was coming and was unprepared, whereas Germany was prepared to fight putting them above the opponent by preparing before the war.

    Nazi Germany and Soviet Union signed an nonagression agreement and a secret condicil seperating Eastern Europe into spheres of influence.By signing this agreement both agreed to ten years of no military action. With Europe on the brink of another major war, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin viewed the act as a way to keep his nation at peace with Germany which gave him time to build up the Soviet Military. On the other hand, German chancellor Adolf Hilter used this pact to insure Germany was able to.

    On this day, German forces bombard Poland from air and land. Adolf Hilter initiated this seeking to regain lost territory and ultimately rule Poland. Thus, starting World War II. This invasion was a primer on how Hitler intended to wage war- what would become the "blitzkrieg' strategy (History.com, Germany invades Poland). This consisted of extensive bombing early on to destroy the enemy's air capacity, munitions dumps, communication lines, and then followed by a massive land invasion.
