    Germans attack the Ardennes region of Wallonia in Belgium, France and Luxembourg on the Western Front. It took the allies completely off guard, and resulted in many casualties for the united states, it also depleted Germany's war recources.

    Benito Mussolini is captured by Italian partisans and is shot to death.

  • Hitler commits suicide

    Germany serenders and the war is over in Europe.

  • The First Atomic Bomb Is Dropped

    The first atomic bomb is dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, destroying around 5 square miles of the city, and killing between 70,000 and 100,000 people (many more later died of radiation sickness).
