  • The Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties that influenced the end of World War I. This ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers.
  • Adolf Hitler and the NAZI Party

    Adolf Hitler become the "Führer" of the NAZI party, this part came to stand for extreme nationalism, anti-semitism, anti-democratic and to restore Germany's military might. As leader, Hitler, blamed many of Germany's problems on the Jews.
  • March to Rome

    Benito Mussolini who formed the political party known as the Fascisti threated to overthrow the Italian government. He formed the Blackshirts which was a military group with 26,000 men. The Italian government gave up his power without any violence.
  • The Soviet Union Under Stalin

    Joseph Stalin completely controlled the Soviet Union in 1928. Stalin was totalitarian dictator who wanted to modernize the economy of the Soviet Union. Stalin created the “Five Year Plan” which was to take control of all aspects of the economy.
  • The Great Depression

    The stock market faced the largest crash in American History as the unemployment rate sky rocketed. This historic date is known as the Black Friday.
  • Failure of the League of Nations

    There were lots of weaknesses in the League of Nations as they couldn't solve many problems and there were no consequences if people didn't listen to them,
  • London Naval Treaty

    The London Naval Treaty is short for Treaty for the Limitation and Reduction of Naval Armament which was a mutual agreement between the U.K, Japan, France, Italy and the United States. This treaty was signed to regulate submarine warfare and limited naval ship building.
  • Japanese Army Invades Manchuria

    The Japanese Army invaded Manchuria without the consent of their government. Japan occupied Manchukuo until the end of World War II.
  • Dachau is Completed

    Dachau was the first concetraion camp created by the NAZIS which opened in Germany. These camps were made to detain political figures who became prisoners.
  • Germany Leaves the League of Nations

    Hitler made a decision to leave the League of Nations. This resulted in Germany becoming more violent and caused more conflict with other countries.
  • Night of the Long Knives

    Hitler decided to murder around 1,000 people who he believed were enemies of the NAZIS. This was a massive purge that had the death of many political figures.
  • Stalin's Goals In The International Arena

    Stalin's main goal was to defend the interests of the Soviet Union. In 1934, the Soviet Union joined the League of Nations.
  • Nuremburg Laws

    Hitler created a law that would affect the Jews by making them lose their jobs, property, citizenship, weren’t allowed to talk to other Germans and were forced to wear the Star of David at all times.
  • Italy Invades Ethiopia

    Benito Mussolini acquired the idea of expanding territory from Adolf Hitler. Mussolini decided to invade Ethiopia which would result in the death of 200 soldiers. The League of Nations failed to help out at all in this situation.
  • The Re-militarization of the Rhineland

    The Treaty of Versailles forced Germany to remove all their military away from, the French boarder. Hitler decided to no follow the agreement by sending troops into Rhineland. Although he violated the treaty, France and Britain did nothing.
  • Rome-Berlin Axis

    An agreement is formed by foreign minister Galeazzo Ciano by linking Italy and Germany which were fascist countries. This resulted in Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini becoming allies.
  • Marco Polo Bridge Incident

    This was a battle between China’s army and the Imperial Japanese Army. The Marco Polo Bridge Incident is often known as a day that kick started the Second Sino-Japanese War which lasted 7 years.
  • The Annexation of Austria

    Hitler violated the Treaty of Versailles again by moving troops into Austria and declared it German territory. Like in Rhineland, the democracies took no action against Germany for their violations.
  • Appeasement in Czechoslovakia

    When Czechoslovakia was created, there were over 3 million Germans who were included in the boarder. Hitler wasn’t happy with this so he threated to invade. The appeasers asked what Hitler wanted to stop him from invading, he asked for Sudetenland, which he received.
  • The Spanish Civil War

    This was a civil war that separated Spain into two groups "Republicans" and "Nationalists". Nationalists win the war which resulted in General Francisco Franco ruling Spain.
  • The NAZI-Soviet Pact and the Coming of the Second World War

    Stalin was trying to convince Britain and France to join as one to scare Hitler but they declined his idea. Hitler later then approached Stalin to make a non-aggression pact. Germany and the Soviet Union agreed not to attack each other and to share.
  • The Invasion of Poland

    The NAZIS invaded Poland, which was the beginning of the Second World War. NAZIS used a tactic called blitzkrieg which also known as "lighting war". From the attack on Poland from Germany, France and Britain immediately called war on the Germans.
