In Mrach of 1935, Hitler began to re-arm Germany by increase the military in the name of 'defense' to protect Germany. However, Germany had plans to start a war and to conquer land to gain lebenstraum. He started this by inproving the air force. -
Reading 1 Hitler Gains Lebenstraum
A year after Hitler began to increase his military, he void the Treaty of Versailles and invaded the Rhineland. When Hitler invaded, he said that he would retreat if the French attempted to fight. However, the French did not attack them and Hitler invaded. -

Hitler kept to his promise and invaded Austria. When he did this, no other countries helped it when it needed it most. This made Austria weak and easy to defeat. -

Hitler then wanted Czechosolvacia as part of his Reich. When help was denied by Russia and France, Prime Minister Chamberland offered land as concessions for war. Hitler accepted the land and then they wanted more land. -

Hitler said that other countries were hypocritical in saying that they mistreated Jews. The Nazis took over Czechosolvacia two months later and shocked the world. He then threated Poland. -

Hitler invades and takes over Poland. People in Germany did not want Hitler to invade Poland because they all knew what happened in WWI and they didn't want it to happen again. -

Jews become targets of strict laws. They were forced to have a curfew and were forced to wear a yellow star. This was used to distingush them from other people. There were harsh implications for disobeying these laws such as ten years in prison. -
Reading 19 Hitler Conquers the West
Hitler began to conquer the west such as Norway and Denmark. Then in may of 1940, they conquered Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The war around Britain made Winston Churchhill the prime minister in may. -
Reading 20 Hitler Invades Russia
When Hitler invaded Russia, he sent SS men close behind the armies so that they would kill enemies of the state. This created a lot of murders in the Soviet Union. However Hitler thought that they needed to make a more systematic way of killing them. -
Reading 21 The US Declares War
The US declared war on Japan because of the recent bombing of Pearl Harbor. When Japan asked for Germay's help, the argued but Hitler didn't want to avoid a fight. This united the US, Soviet Union, and Britain in the war.
