Alliances
The first alliance of the war was between the Germany and Austria- Hungry. Later in 1882 Italy joined to creat the Triple Alliance.The Triple alliance is when three of the countries come together and do not fight each other in war. Bismarck sees France as the biggest threat. The Dual alliance was just that, two countries that pulled together for something they believed in. This is significant for the war since it was the first thought and action of having aliies to help you. -
Kaiser Wilhelm II
Made Bismarck resign. He did not wish to share power with anyone. He made the treaty with Russia fail, which then caused the treaty with Russia and France. -
Russia and France
Since Wilhelm let his alliance with Russia lapse, Russia then joined France and made a millitay aliiance in 1892 and 1894. Bismarck had always had a fear of this alliance happening. -
Triple Entente
The Triple Entente was the alliance of France, Russia, and Great Britian. This was because Wilhelm tried to make his navy as great as Great Britians was. G.B was alarmed and decided to expand the fleet of people to back it up. -
Germany nearly fought France
Germany nearly fought France for the power of Morocco in Northern Africa, but with most of Europe backing up France, Germany backed down. -
Rise of militarism
Militarism- glorifying the ability to be ready for war at the drop of a hat.
This was important because having a huge army that could defend you made citizens feel patriotic and protected. Alos because this made Generals think harder about their plans and what needed to happen. -

In the streets of Sarajevo they rode for a parade, not knowing it would be their last. the killer, 19 year old Gavrilo Princip, a member of the Black Hand, a secret society determined to getting rid of Bosnia of Austrian rule. Because the assassin was Serbian, Austria decided to use the murder as a punish to Serbia -
First Day of war
On July 28th, Austria rejected the ultimatum from Serbia and the same day declared war. On that same day Russian took action in mobilizing the troops towards Austrian boarders. Once this one day happened it seemed that almost all countries just some how fell into the war. -
