    Mein Kampf is Published
    Hitler has a book that he wrote about himself and his lifetime published. Mein Kampf translates to " My Struggle" . The book was very popular throughout the Nazi Part population and to the Hitler Supporters. In the book, this book is mentioned very often. When one joins the Nazi Party, they were given a copy of the book. Many Jews and people who were thought of as suspicious, carried this book around thinking that they wouln't be question by doing so.

    Hitler Becomes  Chancellor of Germany
    On the dark night of January 30, 1933, the Nazi Party had a huge torchlight parade in Berline. The parade was to celebrate the appointment of Adolph Hitler as the Chancellor of Germany. After World War One, Hitler promised to avenge Germany after the US made Germany pay all of the reparations that they had to do. Germany was basically blamed for all of the first world war. He is named the fÜhrer of the Nazi Party. Many people look up to him and his aryan race. " Heil Hitler" was often said.

    To celebrate Hitler and his " well-doings", there were ceremonies held in the streets for him throughout world war 2. Almost like a bonfire, there was a large fire in the street made up of Jewish things, things that went against the Nazi party, and Jewish books. They were put into a large pile in the streets and lit on fire in celebration of Hitler.

    Dachau Concentration Camp for people of the Non-Aryan race is opened. Jewish, homosexuals, and gypsies were sent here. This is the camp that is where Liesel's mother is believed to have been sent too. This breaks Liesel's heart because she writes her letter hoping for a reply. Her papa knows that the worst has probably happened and that Liesel's mother probably isn't alive anymore. Liesel's is starting to learn why Jews are hated so much now

    Germany Breaks the Treaty of Versailles
    Germany has broken the promise of the Treat of Versailles because they brought in an army. Germany knew that they would always break the treaty once Hitler came to power. They planned on capturing other surrounding contries. In the book it is said that the Nazi's think they are coming closer to completing their job. Capturing land will help them get to this.

    Jews are Stripped of all of Their Rights
    During this time, all Jews lost their rights and weren't really considered as people any longer by the Germans or Nazi's. Jews were thought of as property and inferior. There were laws passed that took their rights away from them. In the book the Aryan race is thought of as superior. The fact that Jews are thought of as inferior is the reason why Liesel's mother was taken from her and most likely the reason that her brother passed away.

    The Olympic Games Begin in Berlin
    The olympic games were held in Berlin and Hitler was there to attend them. This was a very significant event because there was one African-American runner by the name of Jesse Owens and he was very good. He was fast and very agile. In the book, it was stated that when Owens won his event, Hitler refused to shake his hand and it shocked everyone. Also, Rudy, Liesel's friend, had his "Jesse Owens incident". He went down to one of the old tracks completely covered in charcoal running like Owens.

    The night of broken glass. This was Max Vandenburg's proven moment of escape. On this night, many Jewish buildings, stores, and homes were destroyed and looted when there was a clatter of knuckles painted on the door. Glass filled the floors and people walked across it shoeless. It was also the last night that Max saw his family before being separated.

    Hitler Tours Paris
    Hitler takes a tour of Paris. In the book it says that he takes of tour of Paris for a period of time. A short while after his "tour", Germany bombs Paris. He was most likely getting an inspection of the country so everything would go well when they decided to bomb it.

    Jews were discriminated against and lost many of their rights. In the book when Liesel and Rudy were walking, they saw a " mustard yellow " star painted on a Jewish shop. Jews were labeled by the yellow star of David. Along with being tatood by a number name and forced to live in ghettos. There was no discussion, they had to wear them.
  • Gas Chambers are Experimented with

    Gas Chambers are Experimented with
    Jews were told that they were going in a shower room and it looked like one but things were not what they appeared to be. A deadly gas was sprayed from the shower heads and they were killed within seconds because they suffocated. Liesel's mother may have been killed in one of these. Thousand of Jews lost their lives because of the gas chambers.

    Hitler Commits Suicide
    Once Hitler realizes that Germany has no chance and that they will be defeated, he decided that is was time to end his life. Nobody knows exactly how he killed himself. Without their fuhrer, the Nazi Party, and other German soldiers didn't know what to do.Shortly after Hitler's death, German troops surrendered and the axis powers had no chance. The US and the allied powers came in and liberated many captured countries.
